Development Activity for SFIA 9 is Underway
Register for the final input session - 23/Nov/2023
Thanks to everyone who has provided their suggestions and thoughts. Our final input session will review the themes and ideas proposed by NZ SFIA users, provide a final opportunity for input via these sessions, and seek to organise and prioritise changes to be passed on to the SFIA Design Authority.
Register for the final session at https://sfia.nz/sfia9/nzinput.
This workshop will be led by SFIA Council member, and member of the SFIA Global Design Authority – Daniel Merriott.
Following this final session we will share the outputs and register change requests with the SFIA Foundation, and Daniel will summarise the session and discussion points to the SFIA Design Authority.
After this you will still be able to make suggestions either via the form below or via the change request process on the SFIA Foundation website.
Learn about SFIA & have your say on how SFIA should improve
Over the last few months NZ SFIA Partners - Digital Skills Agency, and IT Professionals NZ – ran a number of in-person events in August and early September to introduce SFIA to those who are new/curious, talk about SFIA’s contribution to professional digital skills development, share current thoughts on future SFIA themes, and capture your suggestions, ideas and thoughts on SFIA 9.
Daniel has been a long-term advocate of SFIA supporting organisations across New Zealand, Australia, the UK and beyond with their adoption, and has been a consistent contributor to both the NZ SFIA community and to the development of SFIA.

Background
In 2022, as part of the Digital Technologies Industry Transformation Plan of New Zealand, the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) and Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE) established a Whole-of-Country SFIA Licence. SFIA has seen strong and increasing adoption in NZ over the last 10 years and we are seeing that the Whole-of-Country licence is helping increase interest and adoption of SFIA across NZ.
We know there is keen interest from the NZ SFIA community in the content of the next version of SFIA - SFIA 9, due for release late 2024. Over the past several versions SFIA has received many valuable contributions and suggestions from partners and users in NZ, and the SFIA Foundation is keen hear again what the SFIA community in NZ would like to see.
The Foundation is particularly keen to hear about:
- Content suggestions (updates to existing skills, new skills, other ideas)
- What support you would like to see from the SFIA Foundation (guidance, explanation, support assets, etc)
You can see the change requests already logged and also contribute your ideas via the Future SFIA page on the SFIA Foundation website.
